Why is the Bohemian Grove the target of so many controversies?
Question Specifics
The Bohemian Grove is just a venue for the Bohemian Club meeting. Why are there so many controversies hurled against it? If there's really a secret ritual held there, why would they pick the same place?

When there's smoke, there's fire. The Bohemian Grove won't be the subject of much speculation if there's nothing unusual going on there. Come to think of it, why would an exclusive group perform a ritual? Does this ritual have a bearing on their membership or accomplishment? Maybe they switched to a new venue for their secret rituals or meetings, but we cannot just dismiss the revelations of those who witnessed the unusual activity. Perhaps there is truth to some of their claims. We have to consider the possibilities, I agree. Pagan rituals are not well accepted by some people, because of their link to the occult.

I think the Bohemian Grove had been a secret meeting place for an underground group. Which group? I'm not so sure. It could be the Illuminati, or any other obscure organization, whose agenda is supposed to remain hidden from public eye. But because of the controversy and much speculation, perhaps they already changed the venue of their secret meetings. Think about the possibilities. Don't be naive. These kinds of conspiracies have been circulating for a long time now.

You're right, it doesn't make sense at all. Why would they hold their meetings here if the place is the center of unwanted attraction. Since the club didn't change the venue even at the spark of many conspiracy theories, perhaps the members have nothing to hide. They didn't even bother to explain themselves full well. What intruders were looking for when they broke into the Grove where things that would confirm their baseless speculations. It would be easy for them to associate a simple ritual to the workings of a Satanic group. After all, we see what our minds want us to see.

I don't think there's some mystery going on in the Bohemian Grove. Even though some reporters claimed to have witnessed a pagan ritual there, it doesn't mean that it's Satanic or evil. Secret societies or exclusive groups all have their own rituals. It can be a form of peace offering or a sign of goodwill. Only people who are not members of the club will grow suspicious of such an activity, because they're left clueless of what's going on. It can be jealousy or fear of the unknown that drove to make malicious accusations. Isn't it natural for anyone to speculate about the Bohemian Grove if access is limited only to a few people? That seems to be the case here.
