When you look at the facts, the only thing that you have is the image. The body, as far as it is known, has not been subjected to scientific tests. Plus, you also have other cases where the supposed remains of mermaids were constructed from fish and monkey carcasses. All these point to the mermaid found in the Philippines as being a hoax rather than the real thing. The only proof going for these images is the images themselves, and that does not mean much without the actual specimen. Perhaps mermaids do exist, but the ones in the Philippines don't seem they are it.

Well if mermaids do exist, I'm sure Ariel from the Little Mermaid would protest. The image looks more like Ursula than anything. The images do play around with our current conceptions of a mermaid, but should one believe those images at face value? Some sources online says that these are just corpses of a monkey and a fish joined together. So one cannot really give much credit to these images, wherever they're found. As with most of the things you see or read about in the internet, better take it with a grain of salt. Sometimes you need a handful of salt.

You just have to take things in perspective with this one. If the dead mermaid found in the Philippines was true, don't you think there should've been quite a stir about it by now? Since you don't hear anything much about it, it would be fair to assume that it's just another hoax to join other hoaxes. There are cases where these so-called pieces of "evidence" are just fabrications. They may be entertaining to look at, but to give the images even an ounce of truth would be pushing it too far. Those pictures are not true images of a real mermaid.

The images are too hideous to be a mermaid! But on a serious note, it is doubtful whether those images are the real thing. You have lots of hoaxes going around, and this one is no exception. There is a strong suspicion that these mermaid artifacts are just fabrications using the body of a dead monkey and a fish. Though the images may invite speculation, they still look fake. The images are also the similar to other mermaid sightings in other areas, such as in China and India. There's a stronger inclination to believe that they are fake rather than real.
